Making sense of the complex world of breast cancer can be overwhelming. Whether you are facing a personal diagnosis or that of a friend or loved one, there are many steps you can take to help you better understand the many faces of this disease. To date, Susan G. Komen has raised more than $2 billion to help fund research, education, screening and treatment. 56% of Komen’s research funding goes toward more effective treatments for those living with metastatic breast cancer. In the last 12 years, Susan G. Komen has invested an average of 80 cents or more of every dollar raised to mission programs, such as research, local access to care and screening services, financial assistance, and support programs.
The MORE THAN PINK Walk is Komen’s signature fundraising event. It’s a day where we can put aside everything else in our lives and share our stories, our laughter, and our tears to raise money that saves lives. While we may not be able to meet in-person, arms linked, side-by-side, we can still come together virtually to celebrate survivors those living with breast cancer, and honor loved ones lost.
In this episode, Susan G Komen Nevada’s Sherry Alexis joins us to talk about the upcoming walk details, how donations help, and other ways to get involved.
