Homelessness among youth is a growing crisis in the Las Vegas Valley. For over 18 years, the Nevada Partnership for Homeless Youth (NPHY) has provided Southern Nevada’s homeless youth with help, hope, and the support needed to rebuild their lives.
NPHY is the most comprehensive service provider for the thousands of young people experiencing homelessness in our community, providing access to life-changing services for homeless youth 24 hours a day at virtually every street corner in Southern Nevada. NPHY’s wraparound programs stabilize young people’s lives, meeting their immediate needs and providing a safe, supportive environment and a path to self-sufficiency. NPHY’s individualized, holistic services empower young people to not only achieve long-term independence, but to craft the futures they want for themselves.
Strengthening and complementing our high-quality direct services for homeless youth, NPHY is dedicated to advocating for the Vegas Valley’s homeless youth population and serves as a leader in systems-level efforts to eliminate homelessness among Nevada’s youth.

In this episode, Wendy speaks with NPHY Executive Director, Arash Ghafoori about the organization celebrating its 20th anniversary year and what they’ve accomplished so far as an organization. Arash also tells us about their 20th Anniversary Impact Fund will help their efforts for the next two decades, and how the community can participate. Donation types are discussed as well as volunteer opportunities. NPHY’s efforts have also expanded to policy and advocacy and Arash elaborates on where they have made a difference there.
Arash also breaks down the outline of NPHY’s goal: to make homelessness RARE, BRIEF, ONE-TIME and EQUITABLY ADDRESSED. Finally, Arash tells us an inspirational story about a youth who went from homeless to a full scholarship at Columbia University.
