Junior Achievement of Southern Nevada, Inc. was founded locally in 1996. Their current local programs span grades K-12, with age-appropriate curricula. At the elementary level, students learn about their roles as individuals, workers, and consumers while focusing on key life skills like the importance of saving, and the difference between wants and needs. Middle and high school students learn about key economic principals, workforce issues they will face, personal budgeting and credit.

This program addressed two events open to the community to raise funds for Junior Achievement of Southern Nevada, which helps inspire young people in our community to succeed in school and business. In this episode, Wendy had the pleasure of speaking with President and CEO Michelle Jackson, as well as Director of Development Will Abbott. JASNV is hosting two events to raise funds for their many programs. The first is the Over The Edge peer-to-peer fundraising event. Community members are invited to raise funds to join the organization in repelling down the side of the Virgin Hotel Las Vegas. Michelle and Will gave detail about what to expect at the event, and how funds raised would be used. The second event is the Golden Ticket raffle. Michelle and Will talked about the various prizes community members can win when they purchase raffle tickets. All funds raised will support JASNV, which offers resources proven to promote financial capability, work and career readiness and business ownership for the youth in our community.
