Coach Jon Gruden spent his first two seasons back with the Raiders tearing down the roster and starting a rebuild. Gruden now has his best roster yet heading into the team’s first season in Las Vegas. Quarterback Derek Carr has a strong offensive line and talented playmakers on an offense that should be much improved. The perennially porous defense has been overhauled, and additions like Cory Littleton and Maliek Collins should make the unit more competitive.
Mike Mayock’s first rookie class as general manager of the Raiders was an extremely productive one. Whether this year’s class can perform in similar fashion could help determine whether the Raiders can be a playoff contender in the AFC in their first season in Las Vegas. Mayock says it’s to early to anoint the group led by speedy receiver Henry Ruggs III and cornerback Damon Arnette. But that group will need to contribute if the Raiders want to take a big step forward this season.
