Casinos that were closed through May due to the coronavirus pandemic yielded nearly no tax revenue for Nevada. The state Gaming Control Board on Tuesday reported a 99.4% decrease in house winnings compared with the same month a year ago, and a 99.9% drop in taxes. Tourism officials charted a nearly 96% drop in visitor volume last month, compared with May 2019. McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas reported a 91.5% decrease in monthly passenger traffic. Casinos were allowed to reopen June 4 with some other businesses after being closed in mid-March.
