Nevada reported has reported 410 new coronavirus cases, bringing the statewide total to 12,486 cases. The new cases reported Friday represented the largest single-day total for the state since the start of the pandemic. The previous record was Monday of this week, when 379 new cases were reported. As the state has expanded its testing capacity and reopened businesses in limited fashion, the positive test rate and number of new cases reported daily have gone up. The rise in new cases prompted Gov. Steve Sisolak to declare that he is considering implementing stricter measures to contain the spread of the virus, including a statewide mask mandate.
