More and more, Californians are leaving the state for political reasons, but republicans are more likely to leave than Democrats. That’s according to a new study conducted by UC Berkley for the LA Times. According to the study, more than half of California voters have considered leaving the state, but the feeling is more likely among members of the GOP. In fact, Republicans are 3 times more likely to consider leaving. While politics is not the sole reason for a mass exodus from California, it is a motivating factor. Many Republicans also say high taxes, expensive housing costs and education are other reasons they’d leave California for Nevada, Texas or Florida. According to California’s Legislative Analyst’s Office, California has lost about one million residents to domestic migration. That is about 2.5 percent of the state’s population.
