Negotiators for the Clark County School District and the teachers union will sit down today, to try again to hammer out a new 2-year contract.
The union wants the district to honor the 3% raises promised by the state legislature. They also want an additional 2% that accrues with a teachers time in the district and an increase in the district contribution to health care. The union says the threat of a teacher strike remains on the table. The district says the legislature did not provide enough money leaving a hole in the districts budget that required some per-pupil funding cuts.
