The Clark County School Board Trustees meeting was packed last night with angry parents, teachers and other school administrators, upset with Superintendent Jesus Jara’s decision to cut “dean” positions from middle and high schools in the district.

They are asking the board to reverse the decision, which was made to help close a $17-million budget shortfall. Superintendent Jara opened the meeting by making a statement and apologizing for the way he handled the announcement, which was made via a video posted to the district’s website.

Parents and teachers are worried that without the deans at the schools, who handle discipline issues, schools will become more violent than they already are.
