Could the Las Vegas Raiders being playing their home games in Allegiant Stadium come 2020?
The Las Vegas based airline has submitted a trademark filing for “Allegiant Stadium”. The filing happened on March 29 according to the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Despite the timing, Allegiant says it is just a coincidence. They want to trademark the term for any future use they may have. But, they did confirm they have had talks with the Raiders.
“While we had conversations with the Raiders about a variety of sponsorship opportunities, the trademark application is unrelated to those discussions,” the statement said. “It’s an extra layer of protection for our brand, as we are constantly exploring sponsorship opportunities in the communities where we do business.”
Mark Badain, President of the Raiders has also confirmed there have been talks, but said the naming rights process is ongoing.
