NHL Apologizes to VGK

George McPhee, General Manager of the Vegas Golden Knights says the NHL reached out to the organization and admitted an error was made in Game 7 when refs called a 5-minute major on Cody Eakin.

That call led to a 5-minute power play in which the San Jose Sharks scored 4 times taking the lead 4-3 before eventually winning 5-4 in OT, to end the Golden Knights season.

“The league did reach out and apologize,” McPhee said Thursday. “They made a mistake and I’m sure (the officials) feel bad about it. They want to get things right like we all do when we’re doing our jobs.”
