Bus Ridership Down in Resort Corridor

The Regional Transportation Commission says bus ridership in the valley and especially along the strip has been falling drastically.

Ridership along the resort corridor has fallen over the last three years, which coincides with the introduction of ride hailing services like Uber and Lyft. Bus ridership fell 15% from October 2015 through December 2018. Bus ridership along the resort corridor has always been the RTC's cash cow, but with falling ridership it is no longer as lucrative as it once was. The RTC predicts if the rate of decline continues, the cost of operating its transit system will surpass the revenue generated as early as 2023.
