A 16 year old student was arrested at Desert Rose High School, Wednesday, for bringing a loaded 9mm handgun to school. This marks the 7th incident involving guns on a school campus in the district just this school year. It also follows the shooting death of an 18 year old Canyon Springs High School student on the campus of that North Las Vegas school on Tuesday. Superintendent Jesus Jara called Tuesday's shooting "devastating". Jara is creating an advisory group involving principals, teachers and students to suggest ways to address weapons on campuses. The new group is set to make recommendations to the Board of Trustees by Dec. 1.
