Raiders Football

Jon Gruden’s coaching staff is officially in place, as the Raiders announced the assistant coaches for 2018.

Last week Oakland announced the hiring of their offensive, defensive and special teams coordinators. Today they added 13 more to the staff.

Tom Cable, who’s hiring was reported last week, will return to the Raiders as the offensive line coach. Cable was the Raiders offensive line coach in 2007, then became the interim head coach in 2008. He was named the full-time head coach, but lasted just one more season.

He was fired under a slew of allegations that included breaking the jaw of one of his assistant coaches. Raiders former owner Al Davis fired Cable, but Al’s son Mark Davis has ok’d his return.

The Raiders have seen many coaches make lateral moves to come under the wing of Jon Gruden.

Plus two former Raiders staffers will return, as Nick Holz (offensive quality control) and Travis Smith (defensive quality control) are back for their seventh season with the team.
