Five people have died from the excessive heat since Saturday, according to the Clark County Coroner’s Office. There have been many more than four deaths, but the others have not been confirmed to be related to the heat.Tuesday’s high tied the all time record of 117-degrees in Las Vegas, and an excessive heat warning has been extended through the weekend.  The county has opened 12 cooling stations.

Ninety-eight heat-related deaths were recorded in the county last year.
