MGM confirms talks with group about Las Vegas NHL franchise
A spokeswoman on Thursday confirmed to FOX5 that MGM Resorts International is in preliminary talks with an unnamed group about bringing an NHL team to Las Vegas.

The 31-year-old accused in the Sept. 12 ambush shooting that killed a state trooper and wounded a second outside the Blooming Grove police barracks was captured Thursday after a near two-month run, authorities said.

Clark County is joining the rest of the state in an attempt to break a world record with the most people singing a state song at the same time. The county’s contribution to the sing-along, held in conjunction with Nevada’s sesquicentennial celebration, will take place in the rotunda of the Clark County Government Center.
A Democratic Nevada Assembly candidate has been declared ineligible for the Las Vegas-area seat he’s seeking. Judge Michael Villani ruled Wednesday that Jesse “Jake” Holder doesn’t meet residency requirements for the District 10 seat. The only eligible candidate on the ballot now is Republican Shelly Shelton.
