Once the Jon Gruden rumors became real, the first name to surface as an assistant coach was Rich Gannon.
The former Raiders quarterback played under Gruden and had four straight seasons with 3,000 passing yards. He was reportedly going to be Guden's quarterbacks coach.
But Gannon said on 95.7 The Game that he will not be taking that job.
Rich Gannon just told @957thegame that he won't be Raiders QB coach "I came to my senses" on flight to Oakland Tuesday. Couldn't/didn't want to match Gruden's intensity and time commitment the position requires

Gannon has been harsh on Carr in recent weeks, suggesting that his work ethic will have to improve now that Gruden is his coach.
"I don’t care how hard Derek’s worked before, he’s gonna have to change his work habits a little bit to fit in,” Gannon told the Athletic.
Gannon, while calling the Raiders week 17 game, ripped into Michael Crabtree and Marshawn Lynch for being on the sideline too often.

Now Gannon elected to not meet that work ethic and will likely remain as a commentator with CBS.
