State figures show Nevada's taxable sales increased by 4 percent in September compared to the same month last year.
Numbers from the Nevada Department of Taxation show that taxable sales reached nearly $5 billion that month with increases reported in 11 of the 17 counties in the state.
Revenue at bars and restaurants increased by more than 4 percent, and furniture sales went up by more than 6 percent.
More than $99 million in taxes were collected from statewide sales, an increase of nearly 5 percent compared to the same month last year.
While the gains were better than last year, the sales tax collection is still down by more than $4 million than what the state predicted.
