Raiders first round pick Gareon Conley is practicing

The Raiders secondary has problems as the team nears the start of the regular season. But one of those questions has been answered.

When will Gareon Conley start practicing? The answer is now.

Conley was selected in the first round of the NFL Draft out of Ohio State, but has not practiced due to a shin injury since the Raiders reported for training camp in late July.

His appearance at practice gives the Raiders another option at cornerback where Sean Smith, who had already been pushed down the depth chart, was arrested this month and David Amerson suffered an apparent head injury in week three of the preseason. Amerson was not practicing on Tuesday.

On the other side of the ball, fullback Jamize Olawale missed practice, as he came up limping after a 56-yard carry in Saturday’s loss to Dallas. But wide receiver Seth Roberts, who had missed the previous two preseason games, returned to practice.

The Raiders play their final preseason game on Thursday as they host the Seahawks.
