SAO PAULO (AP) — Argentina and Switzerland were tied 0-0 after a first half with few scoring chances in their second-round World Cup match in Sao Paulo.
Argentina dominated possession but Switzerland got the best chance in the 28th minute when Xherdan Shaqiri set up Gokhan Inler in the penalty area. Sergio Romero stopped Inler’s shot with his left foot.
Swiss striker Josip Drmic failed to chip over Romero 10 minutes later.
With Switzerland playing with five midfielders against Argentina’s three, the Albiceleste were struggling to get through to the final third.
Argentina’s Gonzalo Higuain headed over the bar after a free kick from Lionel Messi.
