LAS VEGAS (AP) — NASCAR driver Daryl Harr has joined the fight against bullying.

Harr is teaming with former NFL kicker Nick Lowery to speak out against bullying, becoming the first NASCAR driver in a major campaign against the problem among youth.

Harr anticipates creating a program to inspire school children at every NASCAR event, with a particular emphasis on athletes.

“Nick and I want to help varsity athletes all over NASCAR country stand up for the marginalized kids in the shadows of schools,” Harr said. “That’s what Nick and I will be doing in schools in NASCAR communities.”

Harr is driving for JD Motorsports in the Nationwide Series race this weekend at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Lowery kicked for the Kansas City Chiefs, New York Jets and New England Patriots during a 19-year NFL career. He holds a graduate degree from Harvard and played a role in the launch of the Points of Light Foundation and Americorps.
